On October 13, 2022, a lone protestor staged an act of defiance on a bridge in Beijing.
He lit a fire to attract attention to himself, and unfurled a banner, demanding freedom from totalitarianism.
In his online manifesto posted on X (formerly Twitter), he called himself Peng Zai Zhou.
He has not been heard from since. If alive, he is almost certainly being held in Chinese black prison, in unthinkably miserable conditions.
We call on the Chinese Communist Party to answer the question: Where is the man who called himself Peng Zai Zhou, also believed to be Peng Li Fa? We demand a visit from independent humanitarian medical staff to determine his health, safety, and conditions of imprisonment. We further demand the Chinese Communist Party disclose the charges brought against him, any legal proceedings he has faced, and any sentence that has been passed, as required by Chinese law. Most importantly, we demand his immediate and unconditional release.
