Terrorist attack on festival in Israel: volunteers say they have found more than 250 dead bodies

At least 250 bodies have been found at the site of a music festival in Israel near the Gaza Strip border, according to the ZAKA public organization, which brings together volunteer rescue groups that help the authorities.

The attack on the Supernova festival, held in the desert in southern Israel to coincide with the Jewish holiday of Sukkot, took place on Saturday. According to footage on social media and eyewitness accounts, Hamas militants appeared unexpectedly and began shooting visitors and taking them hostage.

"The power went out, and suddenly the militants came out of nowhere and opened fire in all directions," a festival attendee told Israeli television.

She said people tried to leave the festival, running across the sand and getting into cars to leave, but were fired upon by the militants, who were traveling in jeeps.

Some were forced to hide for hours in bushes and orchards nearby, hoping the Israeli military would rescue them.

"I put my phone on silent mode and then started crawling through an orange grove," said another woman. - Bullets were whistling above me."

Many festival-goers are still missing.
