The question is raised over how long Western nations will continue to provide aid given these issues. People need to start advocating stopping aid and instead focusing on capacity building, noting the proverb about teaching a man to fish versus just providing fish. The argument is that aid should focus more on developing self-sufficiency and progress in Africa rather than indefinitely supporting incompetent leaders. I believe aid should empower local populations rather than prop up broken governments.
